Welcome to a workshop on teaching and learning with Centre for the Advancement of University Teaching (CeUL).

Useful for: Professors, lecturers and other teachers. The workshop is also useful for teachers who lead seminars and workshops for relatively large groups of students. This is a workshop where the language of instruction is English. This workshop is suitable for anyone with knowledge of English, regardless of mother tongue.

Aim:

Participants will develop their ability to plan, carry out and evaluate an interactive lecture.

After taking part in an ‘interactive lecture’ about interactive lectures the participants will have experienced strategies such as students’ “Just-in-time” preparation, ”Flipped Classroom”, clickers, “Peer Instruction” etc. The focus will be on how to encourage activity and engagement during a lecture in order to support students’ learning.

Teaching and learning in English as a second language will also be discussed.
