PhD Studies (Forskarutbildning) at the Department
The PhD studies at the Department of Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics are closely coupled to the specific research projects carried out at the department. Students interested in pursuing PhD studies are encouraged to:
1. Get information about the different research projects.
2. Choose the research project of interest.
3. Get in contact with the group leader (PI) of the chosen research project (for instance via e-mail).
PhD students at the Department of Molecular Biology & Functional Genomics belong to the Postgraduate Research School in Molecular Life Sciences.
General information about postgraduate studies at the Science Faculty, Stockholm University is found here.

Apart from the research project, the PhD studies include theoretical education in the form of courses (at the Stockholm University (follow this link) but also other Swedish Universities and abroad), participation in international scientific meetings, reading specialized literature, and participation in regular seminar series.
There are two compulsory courses for PhD students at the Department of Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics (Introduction to Biology, and Molecular Cell Biology Book Course; see the drop down meny).
The department will evaluate the progress of each student once a year. Evaluation committees with teachers and student representatives are responsible for the progress assessment.
More details about PhD studies at the department of Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics can be found in Doktorandhandboken.
