Stockholm University Campus

Most teaching and research activity at the University takes place in the main campus area between Sveaplan in the south and Bergianska Botanic Garden in the north. This area encompasses Frescati, Lilla Frescati, Frescati hage, Frescati backe, Kräftriket, Albano and Sveaplan.

General campus opening hours

The University's campuses stretch from Sveaplan in the south to the Bergius Botanic Garden in the north. Opening times for particular buildings or services, the Student Union, and restaurants, etc. are to be found on the relevant websites. Easter opening times

The University's main campus is located in the area stretching from Sveaplan in the south to the Bergius Botanic Garden in the north. The University also has premises at Konradsberg at Kungsholmen. University buildings are closed on national holidays, 'red days'.

Valborg (Walpurgis night) and May Day

Walpurgis Night, or Valborg in Swedish, is an ancient tradition, possibly going back to pre-Christian times in Europe. The day, celebrated on April 30, marks the birth of Saint Walpurga, who is believed to have been born in Devon, England around the year 710.

Ascension

Open times during Ascension (Kristi himmelsfärdsdag)

On the 21 May Sweden celebrates "Kristi himmelsfärds dag" or the Ascension, as it is generally known in English-speaking countries. Ascension Day is a Christian festival, and a public holiday in the Swedish calendar, falling on the 40th day after Easter Sunday. Special opening times apply at the University during this day.

Campus parking charges

The parking fees on this page apply from April 1, 2009. Stockholm University's landlord, Akademiska hus, is responsible for car parks on the various campus sites.
