Academic ceremonies

Each year, Stockholm University arranges a ceremony of conferment of doctor's degrees, an inauguration of new professors and a ceremony of conferment of master's degrees.

Conferment of Doctor's Degrees

Conferment of Doctoral Degrees

Stockholm University arranges a ceremony for the conferment of doctoral degrees and inauguration of new professors on Friday 28th September 2012. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in the Blue Hall of the Stockholm City Hall and will be followed by a banquet in the Gold Hall and dancing in the Blue Hall.

Conferment of Master's Degrees

On Friday, 25 May, newly graduated Master's students will be conferred on the stage of the great auditorium in Aula Magna. The Conferment of Master's Degrees is an old academic tradition but a fairly new ceremony at Stockholm University.

Inauguration of new professors

Stockholm University arranges a ceremony for the conferment of doctor's degrees and inauguration of new professors on Friday 28th September 2012. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in the Blue Hall of the Stockholm City Hall and will be followed by a banquet in the Gold Hall, with dancing in the Blue Hall.

Honorary doctorates

The awarding of an honorary doctorate is an expression of the University's appreciation of outstanding contributions in one or more of the University's areas of academic activity.
