Toxic paint on boats affect snails in the Baltic Sea

Environmental Science, Maria Bighiu
A recreational activity such as sailing can be harmful for the environment, as many boats are coated with toxic paints. I found that the health of the snails is negatively affected in small boat harbours in the Baltic Sea. Here, snails grew less, reproduced less and survived to a smaller extent than snails in other areas not influenced by boating.

How are the largest molecules found in space formed?

Physics, Michael Gatchell
Interstellar space has a rich chemical makeup, ranging from the simplest diatomic molecules to far more complex ones. However, the origin of most of these is not well understood. I have performed laboratory experiments and computer simulations to investigate how some of the largest molecules identified in space are formed and evolve in extreme astronomical environments.
