The 2016 edition of QS World University Ranking, one of the most prestigious ranking lists in the world of higher education, was presented on September 7. Stockholm University is to be found at 196 this year and is nationally ranked fifth in Sweden: Lund (97), KTH (92), Uppsala (98) and Chalmers (139).

Within the areas of Humanities and Science Stockholm University has the best result in Sweden and is among the top 100 universities in the world.

Fifteen subjects ranked within the top one hundred

Geography (25), Environmental Science (28), Linguistics (42), Social Policy & Administration (43), Sociology (49), Anthropology, Archaeology, Biological Sciences, Communication & Media Studies, Earth & Marine Sciences, Economics & Econometrics, Education, Law, Modern Languages and Philosophy (51- 100) all ranked within the top one hundred.

Eleven top subjects in Sweden

As many as eleven of the fifteen subjects also ranked as number one in Sweden. Stockholm University has Sweden's top research and education within Anthropology, Communication & Media Studies, Earth & Marine Sciences, Education, Environmental Science, Law, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Social Policy & Administration and Sociology.
