Campus Sweden! New films released
Curious about student life in Sweden? Studyinsweden.se has produced a series of video interviews with students at Swedish universities. The videos offer a glimpse of how international students think and feel about their student activities and their new life in Sweden. Check out the film called Linköping, Mälardalen and Stockholm—here you can see Stockholm University student Serkan Ceylan talk about his experience of studying in Sweden.
Serkan Ceylan is from Turkey and he is currently studying on the master's programme in Marketing, Management and Society at Stockholm University.
The new videos, including a clip with Stockholm University student Serkan Ceylan, are available on the StudyinSweden.se website, which can be found at www.studyinsweden.se.
Meeting Serkan
The University's editorial team spoke to Serkan earlier in the academic year, when we had the chance to ask him a few questions about his impressions of Stockholm.
[Editorial team] What is the best thing (or things) about living in Stockholm?
[Serkan] Almost everybody speaks English which makes it very easy to communicate in your daily life. You can travel to everywhere in Europe from Stockholm comfortably and cheaply.
[Team] Name three things you value about Stockholm University and say why:
[Serkan]
1. The place: It is a very beautiful city, especially in the summer.
2. The reputation: It is a good university according to the rankings but when you start studying there, you can see that the current place in the rankings is just temporary — it will climb up more.
3. The methods of teaching: Actually there is a method that makes you learn something, instead of teaching something. The interactive environment makes studying more enjoyable.
[Team] What do you like best about your course or study programme?
[Serkan] The best thing in my course is that the program wants you to learn something. The aim of my program is not to give a piece of paper which is called a diploma.
[Team] What was the biggest challenge for you in coming to Sweden/Stockholm?
[Serkan] The cost of living in Stockholm was the biggest problem for me in coming here and it still is a problem but somehow you get used to different situations. This was a challenging experience for me I can say.
