Deferred start for the vaccination of staff
Due to a change in priorities by Stockholm County Council, the planned vaccination of staff at Stockholm University against the new influenza (flu) will be delayed, and can first begin during week 49 (week beginning November 30).
Stockholm University has given healthcare provider Avonova the task of offering free vaccination against the new influenza (flu) to the University's staff and students. The vaccination of staff was expected to start week 47; however Stockholm County Council has chosen to prioritize the vaccination of children in the coming weeks, which means that vaccination of employees at the University can only first begin during week 49.
Preliminary schedule for vaccination:
- Konradsberg: 30 November (a.m.)
- Sveaplan: 1 December (a.m.)
- Kista: December 2 (a.m.)
- Frescati: December 3-18 (a.m.)
See attached PDF file for details of times and locations for vaccination of staff.
Detailed and updated information about times and locations will be posted at www.su.se/english/about/news-and-events as soon as arrival dates for the vaccine are confirmed.
One vaccination sufficient for healthy adults
The Swedish Medical Products Agency has investigated whether or not there is a need for one or two doses of the vaccine Pandemrix in different population groups. In a statement issued November 6 the Swedish Medical Products Agency concludes that one dose is sufficient for healthy subjects over the age of 13 years, including healthy pregnant women, to provide adequate protection against the new influenza (flu), while children and at-risk groups with impaired immune systems need to receive two doses. The National Board of Health and Welfare has endorsed these conclusions.
