"Transformations are often discussed as necessary to achieve a just society that thrives within planetary boundaries," says Centre researcher Per Olsson, one of the organisers of the conference.

The aim of the conference is to come to a better understanding of the fundamental changes that are needed in people-planet relationships and that can have an impact at scales that match the problems of the Anthropocene.

The conference aims to generate insights into the conditions that enables or hinders large-scale systems change.

"We will critically examine whether the solutions that are currently promoted by various change agents to deal with the challenges of sustainable development contribute to the large-scale transformations that humanity needs or whether they reinforce current unsustainable pathways," says Olsson.
