The waste sorting stations consist of two black wooden units, with pull-out compartments and one that is top-loaded. There are signs specifying where the waste you want to sort should be placed. University waste management contractors, H.A. Recycling, will empty the waste sorting stations and make sure these are kept tidy.

On average around 400 tonnes of unsorted domestic waste is generated at Stockholm University and the target is to reduce this. Following an assessment of how well the waste sorting stations work, the intention is to place more of these in other buildings within the university area.
