Pro Vice-Chancellor Hans Adolfsson has been recommended as new Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University by its Board of Directors. The Stockholm University Board therefore needs to appoint a new Pro Vice-Chancellor for the remainder of the term, 2016-07-01 – 2019-06-30, provided that the Government makes the formal decision to appoint Hans Adolfsson as Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University.

The University Board has decided on the process, and appointed a recruitment committee.

The Recruitment Committee consists of the following members:

  • Justice of the Supreme Court, Kerstin Calissendorff, Chairman of the University Board
  • Chancellor, University of Helsinki, Thomas Wilhelmsson, Vice Chairman of the University Board
  • Professor Astrid Söderbergh Widding, Vice-Chancellor
  • Professor Ylva Engström, Pro Dean of the Faculty of Science
  • Professor Bengt Novén, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities
  • Magnus Gustavsson, appointed by the employee organizations at Stockholm University
  • Josefin Velander, appointed by the Stockholm University Student Union

The Recruitment Committee is responsible for the hearing of teachers, other employees and students by the Hearing Assembly before the proposal for new Pro Vice-Chancellor is submitted to the University Board.

The nomination period for the new Pro Vice-Chancellor runs until 2016-03-06. All employees and students at the university who fulfil the following requirements may submit proposals for new Pro Vice-Chancellor during this time. Nominations are free, which means that the candidate suggested does not have to be informed beforehand.

Eligibility requirements for nomiators
Employees: Permanent position or temporary employment for at least two years, at least on half-time.
Students: Registered at the university this term.

Eligible to become Pro Vice-Chancellor is anyone who meets the eligibility requirements for employment as professor or lecturer (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 2, § 11).

Nominations for new Pro Vice-Chancellor should be sent to the Recruitment Committee secretary Anna Riddarström by post or e-mail.
