The Special Book Award of China is a national-level reward established by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of China, aiming to recognize foreign writers, translators and publishers for the long-term contributions they have made in introducing, translating and publishing Chinese books as well as in promoting cultural exchanges. Established in 2005, its awarding ceremony is held annually in the evening of one day before Beijing International Book Fair at the Great Hall of the People. This year is the 11th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Book Award. Fifteen individuals have been selected to receive the Special Book Award of China.

One is the Swedish sinologist, writer and photographer Cecilia Lindqvist, who was appointed honorate doctor at Stockholm University in 2009.

Chinese state leader will attend the awarding ceremony to congratulate the winners. The award winner will get a certificate of honour, a trophy and a monetary prize in recognition of his or her contributions.

About Cecilia Lindqvist

Cecilia Lindqvist is a Swedish sinologist, writer and photographer. She has published a number of books on Chinese culture. Cecilia Lindqvist has also produced cd-albums with classical Chinese music for the instrument guqin and xiao and twenty tv-films of different length about Chinese culture and society. She has been teaching General history in Swedish high schools and History of Chinese literature at Stockholm University. In 1971 she took the initiative to introduce Chinese language in the Swedish high school and now many schools from junior level up to senior high school do have Chinese in their ordinary curriculum.
