Captain's interest in the environment led to Navarino Environmental Observatory
Greek shipping magnate Captain Constantakopoulos (1935-2011) was an early advocate of environmental issues, and thanks to his dedication, we now have the Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO). The research station is a collaboration between the ecotourism company Temes – which was founded by the captain himself – Stockholm University, and the Academy of Athens.

Great external interest in the Institute for Turkish Studies

Donation laid the foundation for the Centre for Fashion Studies
A generous donation from the Erling-Persson Family Foundation enabled the Centre for Fashion Studies to be established in 2006. As proof of a successful initiative, the Centre’s activities could be developed further thanks to a new donation from the same foundation in 2010.
