Our understanding of the human body on a molecular level has in recent years advanced dramatically and has led to the development of a number of new therapies and diagnostic tools for efficacious treatment as well as treatment of diseases for which none previously existed.

Mission of the programme

The mission of the master’s programme ”Molecular Techniques in Life Sciences” is to prepare the students for a professional research career in this area, for example to advance the fundamental understanding of the human body and its diseases on a molecular level or towards using this information to develop novel diagnostic tools and treatments.

A collaboration between universities in Stockholm

The two-year programme is a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, KTH - Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, in the environment of Science for Life Laboratory and is delivered by a team of teachers who are internationally recognised researchers in their respective disciplines to ensure a relevant curriculum at the research forefront.

The programme consists of courses aiming to give a solid education in a combination of molecular biology, biotechnology and medicine with a focus on high-throughput biology and analysis of big data for translation of biological findings from lab bench to patient bedside.
