In the area of environmental quality, Sweden is global number two, second only to Switzerland.
  • The Gordon Goodman Memorial Lecture 2017 - Kevin Anderson 2017-08-11 Kevin Anderson is Professor of Energy and Climate Change at the University of Manchester and one of Great Britain’s most recognized climate researchers and is well known for his skills in communicating climate science to decision-makers, the business sector, civil society and media. For environmental reasons, Kevin hasn´t flown in 12 years.

Staying in Stockholm for a three week course on architectural photography, they found the buildings at Frescati campus a good place to practice.

  • Information regarding the terrorist attacks in Paris 2015-11-15 On Saturday, Stockholm University contacted students who are on exchange at French universities. The students were given information about support and were invited to get in touch with their departments. There are no indications that any exchange student from Stockholm University has been damaged. In addition, incoming exchange students from France, now studying at Stockholm University, were contacted with offers of support.

Her Master's thesis will explore how different groups of people benefit from ecosystems within the context of marine protected areas in Mombasa, Kenya. This is an increase of 11%. The second selection results show that 917 applicants have been admitted, which is an increase of approximately 30% compared to last year.

Game of Thrones fan Lennart Magnusson, who works at the University's IT Services, won a Warner Brothers competition, with the result that he got to have the throne for a day.

  • Female researchers claim space in the library 2014-04-03 The University Library is currently under renovation, and in connection with this, the group rooms have been given a new design. Having glass walls was an obvious choice: they let the light in, and it is easy to see if the rooms are occupied, but some degree of separation was needed. The architects showed examples where printed text could serve as protection from view, while also showcasing a message.

The top influencer is Johan Kuylenstierna, Director of the Stockholm Environment Institute and Adjunct Professor at Stockholm University. The number two influenser is Johan Rockström, Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Professor of Environmental Science at Stockholm University.

Competition in the category "Institutions" was tough and Tourism Australia's digital campaign took home the top prize, but Crosstalks was well received by a jury consisting of eminent persons from both academia and industry.

The programme gathered researchers, students, and others to debate and discuss important events, exciting phenonema and world-leading research.

International students inspired by Alfred Nobel 2013-12-17 Twenty-one international students aged 17-23 visited Stockholm University during the 2013 Nobel week. The students listened to the annual lectures given by the Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physics and Economic Sciences, which took place on 8 December in Aula Magna.

Scientists have made the first observation of cosmic neutrinos, thereby opening “a new window on the universe”.
