- Meet Stockholm University in Russia 5-6 October 2013-10-04 Stockholm University joins the International Education Fair in Moscow on Saturday October 5th and in St Petersburg on Sunday October 6th. We welcome all interested students to come and see us at the booth where we will be at your service to answer any questions you may have about your future studies and life at our institution in Stockholm, Sweden.
- Homecoming Day 2013 2013-09-25 The School of Business' annual Homecoming event for former students will take place on 3 October this year. The department is honoured to welcome prominent alumnus Fredrik Reinfeldt, Prime Minister of Sweden to the event.
- EU grant for research on arsenic and the origin of life 2013-06-20 Stockholm University has received a prestigious grant from the EU's research council ERC. The ERC Starting Grant of almost € 1.5 million has been awarded to Ernest Chi Fru. He currently works at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, but will now transfer his research to the Department of Geological Sciences at Stockholm University.

- EU project to the Department of Sociology 2012-12-06 Livia Oláh, Associate professor at the Department of Sociology, has received a major research grant from the EU’s FP7 programme on the theme of “Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities - SSH” in FP7 granted.
- Event at the Faculty Club 2012-11-26 Wednesday 28 November at 17:00. Theme: US election with Merrick Tabor.
- Conferment of Master's degrees 2013-10-02 Twice a year students who have completed a degree at advanced level will be conferred their Master's degrees in Aula Magna.
- New Vice-Chancellor: Questioning the Candidates 2012-08-29 The recruitment process for Stockholm University’s new Vice-Chancellor includes an open moderated question session with the two candidates.
- 13th Marcel Grossmann Meeting - Mysteries of the universe and galactic anomalies 2012-06-29 Sunday, 1 July sees the commencement of a seven-day physics conference, exploring a variety of topics including black holes, stellar explosions and cosmological mysteries, such as the acceleration of the universe and dark matter.
- Kick-off for members of staff ("upptakten") on 27 August 2012-06-26 During the "upptakten", or the yearly kick-off, the management inform members of staff about recent developments in the University. This year, author Viveca Stone and Mayor of Stockholm Sten Nordin are guest speakers at the event, which will take place in the Aula Magna at 13.00 on 27 August. After the main presentations there will be a chance to mingle with colleagues from across the University. Please note that presentations will be held in Swedish.
- Dans Dakar music festival 25-26 May 2012 2012-05-23 Dans Dakar is a two-day outdoor music festival that takes place at Stockholm University's Frescati campus, 25-26 May 2012, with over 30 artists performing on 3 stages. The festival starts at 3pm on Friday 25th May, and tickets cost SEK 695 (approx €75).
- Help the library to improve its services – and you could win an iPad 2 2012-05-22 From Monday, May 21, researchers or students at Stockholm University can answer a short user survey about the University Library's services. The survey takes about five minutes.
- ICT4D open seminar: Frontrunner - Mobile web apps developed for Kenya's world class runners 2012-04-19 PhD student William Jobe at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences will present Frontrunner, a research project conducted together with Kenyan elite runners, which explores the use of smartphones and innovative web apps for training, learning and entreprenurship.
- Becoming a ”Postdoc” or Hosting a ”Fellow” 2012-04-12 On April 18, 13.00 – 16.00, the University's Research Liaison Office (Forskningsservice) will arrange an information day on funding opportunities for incoming and outgoing researchers. Vinnova will give information about the Marie Curie programme, FAS, VR and Formas about their funding opportunities for postdocs.
- Kick-off for new MONDO site for junior researchers at Stockholm University 2012-04-12 The Research Liaison Office now provides an internal web site concerning external research funding with support to self-help for junior researchers. Join our kick-off april the 26th!
- "Trött på alla som kommer med ord, ord" - Tomas Tranströmer and poetic language 2012-02-14 Tonight's lecture takes place in the presence of 2011 Nobel Laureate Tomas and his wife Monica Tranströmer. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2011 was awarded to Tomas Tranströmer "because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality". The lecture will be held in Swedish.
- Conferment of Doctoral Degrees 2013-09-26 Stockholm University arranges a ceremony for the conferment of doctoral degrees and inauguration of new professors on Friday 27th September 2013. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in the Blue Hall of the Stockholm City Hall and will be followed by a banquet in the Gold Hall and dancing in the Blue Hall.
- Meet two of the minds behind Skype, Spotify and Wrapp 2012-02-06 Niklas Zennström, co-founder of Skype and current CEO and Founding Partner of international venture capital firm Atomico, together with Andreas Ehn, former CTO of Spotify and now co-founder of Wrapp, are to speak at Stockholm University on February 15, 2012. All students from the universities and colleges of Stockholm are welcome to attend, especially aspiring entrepreneurs and technology enthusiasts. The event will also be broadcast live.

- Nobel Lectures in Physics, Chemistry and Lectures in Economic Sciences 2011-12-07 On 8 December the traditional Nobel Lectures in Physics, Chemistry and Lectures in Economic Sciences will take place at the Aula Magna, Stockholm University, starting 9:00 a.m. CET.
- The accelerating Universe, presented by the Nobel physics Laureates 2011-12-06 On Monday 12/12 at 16.00-18.00 in the Oskar Klein Lecture Hall, the three Physics Nobel prize Laureates, Saul Perlmutter, Adam Riess and Brian Schmidt will act as moderators for a Colloqium on the discovery of the accelerating Universe.
- The Dutch and Swedish East India Companies and their Commanders 2011-11-23 On November 23, 2011, the Department of History will receive a visit from Jaap Bruijn, Professor of History at Leiden University and renowned maritime historian, who will lecture on the theme of "The Dutch and Swedish East India Companies and Their commanders."
- Cinema Studies Conference "Connected Viewing Workshop" 2011-11-16 On November 18, 2011, Jennifer Holt & Patrick Vonderau of Stockholm University's Department of Cinema Studies will organise a conference entitled "Connected Viewing Workshop", in collaboration with MINE – Media Industries Network Europe with support from the Swedish Research Council.
- Fashion in Translation 2011-11-16 The 4th international Symposium will take place on December 2, 2011. The Symposium is organised by the Centre for Fashion Studies at Stockholm University and convened by the Centre's Professor Peter McNeil and Dr Louise Wallenberg.
- Stockholm University hosts reception in Beijing 2012-02-08 Stockholm University is holding a reception for prospective international students. During the evening event students will be able to meet and mingle with academic representatives from several of the University's departments. Vice-Chancellor Kåre Bremer will also take part in the event.

- Orientation programme for university staff 2011-10-18 Stockholm University has successfully held introductory programmes for new employees for many years. This year, for the first time, an introductory programme in English has been put together to meet the needs of new or recently arrived international researchers and lecturers. - Start of autumn term/fall semester 2011-07-14 The autumn term (fall semester) 2011 runs from 29 August 2011 to 15 January 2012. The spring term 2012 runs from 16 January 2012 to 3 June 2012.
- 21st Annual Conference of the European Second Language Association 2011-07-13 The annual Learning Conference EUROSLA will take place at Stockholm University on 8-10 September this year.
- The second SCORE Scandinavian Conference in Research Education, Nov 9-10 2011 2011-07-12 The second Scandinavian Conference in Research Education - SCORE - was developed to give university staff the opportunity to discuss and exchanges ideas and views on current research and good practice in the fields. The conferences involve educational researchers, directors of postgraduate education, supervisors, academic developers and postgraduate students.

- Inauguration of Stockholm University Astrobiology Centre 2011-07-12 The inauguration of Stockholm University Astrobiology Center (SU-ABC) will take place on September 2, 2011 in the De Geer Lecture Hall at Stockholm University.
- Scheduled maintenance affecting all IT services 11-12 July 2011 2011-07-05 Scheduled maintenance of the University's basic communications structure will take place between 12.00 GMT+1, Monday 11 July and Tuesday 12.00 GMT+1 12 July, (work may continue into the afternoon of July 12 if required). The work will affect all services, including network traffic. This means shorter periods of disruption can occur whilst maintenance work is in progress and that the network may not be entirely accessible during the whole of the maintenance period.

- Inauguration of new professors 2013-05-14 Stockholm University arranges a ceremony for the conferment of doctor's degrees and inauguration of new professors on Friday 27th September 2013. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. in the Blue Hall of the Stockholm City Hall and will be followed by a banquet in the Gold Hall, with dancing in the Blue Hall.
