Why does my apartment have two different numbers?

The Swedish Parliament, the Riksdag, has decided that all housing units are to be listed in a national housing register. The apartment you live in has been given a new number in the housing register currently being developed by Lantmäteriet. The "old" system may still be the one used by the landlord and also by Stockholm University, and therefore the numbers may differ in some of our accommodation areas. The correct number to give to the tax office is the four digit number that is written like (#xxxx) on your rental invoice.

What happens if I arrive later than the starting date of my contract?

There is no problem arriving later, your contract will not be cancelled, but we appreciate if you let us know if you are delayed. You will however still be liable for rent from the starting date of the contract.

How long is the waiting time?

As our applicants ask for accommodation for a limited time and usually from a certain date, it is difficult to estimate a general waiting time, as it in each case depends on the availability of accommodation and the demand for accommodation during the specific period.

International PhD students and researchers are offered accommodation when there are vacancies and therefore the waiting time varies. We recommend applying at least 6 months before the requested arrival date to have a chance.

The availability of accommodation tends to change quickly. Therefore, we book our apartments and rooms only two months ahead in time. This means that if you have applied in March for an apartment from October, you will be contacted no earlier than August.

If I have not received an offer before the date I requested, do I still remain in the queue?

If the requested moving-in-date on your application has passed and you haven’t received an offer, your application will be removed unless you contact Stockholm University within one month to update your application. The application will then remain in the queue.
