Joanna Joy Tan, an Exchange student from National University of Singapore, loves the old part of Stockholm, the preservation of the city’s architectural heritage. She came to Stockholm in 2006 for two days. “I knew I would find a way to come back,” Joanna says.

Finnish Exchange student, Jenny French, traces her interest in literature and language to her English grandmother. "When I was a kid," says Jenny "she recorded a children’s book on tape for me." There were 14 or 15 tapes and Jenny, always eager to hear more of the story, would ask her mother, "When is the next tape coming?"

Saeko Ikeda studied Law and Swedish at Stockholm University as part of an exchange agreement between Stockholm University and Nihon University. Saeko is from Kawasaki, an industrial city near Tokyo, Japan. “By the time I go back to Japan, my suitcase will be filled with discoveries”

Exchange students

Each year around 1,000 international exchange students come to study as part of an exchange programme.

Master's students

Each term several hundred students from all over the world come to Sweden to study one of the University's 75 master's programmes. Here we meet 8 students from 8 different countries Ethiopia, Korea, USA, Iran, South Africa, Iran, Mexico, and China.

PhD students

Stockholm has an excellent reputation internationally, which makes it an attractive place for top research students.
