This action has generated international attention: The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences made a pronouncement on the issue yesterday, the European University Association has issued pronouncements, and many other international partners, like ALLEA (ALL European Academies), have joined in the criticism.

Stockholm University, especially our Department of Philosophy, has a vibrant and active partnership with CEU. When an international partner university is threatened with restrictions and closure, it is our duty to stand up for academic freedom and principles: freedom of expression, freedom in higher education, and freedom of research. Together with our many international colleagues, we hope that the Hungarian government reconsiders their baseless decision.
