Mini-symposium

PROTEIN TRAFFICKING IN EUKARYOTIC CELLS

SU Honorary Doctor Professor Sandra L. Schmid
UT Southwestern Medical Center, USA
and
Professor William E. Balch
The Scripps Research Institute, USA

SU Honorary Doctorate Lecture - Sandra L. Schmid

"Dynamin: The Master-Regulator of Clathrin-Mediated Endocytosis"

Professor Sandra L. Schmid will receive an Honorary Doctorate from Stockholm University at the 2015 graduation ceremony. Prof. Schmid is being honored for her outstanding contributions to understanding clathrin-mediated endocytosis, a fundamental process controlling the expression of proteins at the surface of eukaryotic cells.

Frontiers in Molecular Life Sciences Lecture - William E. Balch

"Adaptive Management of Protein Misfolding and Trafficking in Health and Disease"

Professor William E. Balch is a foremost expert in the molecular mechanisms governing protein traffic early in the mammalian secretory pathway and has made major contributions to understanding human diseases linked to the misfolding of membrane proteins.
