Environmental Toxicology, Introductory Course, 7.5 hp

The course is held on Mondays 6 pm-8 pm, and covers mechanisms of mutation, cancer and aging, and how these are influenced by environmental factors such as chemical substances and radiation. The incidence of toxic substances is also described, as are the significance of hereditary factors and lifestyle factors, and methods of risk analysis. The course provides a thorough introduction to toxicology that will be useful to biologists, chemists, earth scientists, teachers, nutritional specialists, etc., in their professional life. The course is a part-time course (25%), and is held in the period September – January.
