Identification of novel virulence factors of H. pylori

Although several virulence factors of H. pylori have been identified in various studies, the clinical course of the infection does not necessarily correlate with the presence or absence of known virulence factors. Therefore, it is important to identify the role of other unknown or less studied bacterial factors that could modulate the clinical outcome of the infection. Our current research is focused on identification and functional characterization of certain potential virulence factors of H. pylori. An understanding of the factors that contribute to the disease development will ultimately help us in the development of strategies aimed at controlling H. pylori-associated diseases.
