UP2 Teaching in the disciplines (4,5 hp)

UP2 Teaching in the disciplines is a course for those who teach at Stockholm University.

While it is not required, we recommend that you complete UP1 before taking UP2. In the course UP2 in English, the main focus is on an individual research project.

The task is for you to identify an area of teaching in your field which you wish to develop and then to write a paper where you move forward in improving student learning based on literature in higher education pedagogy, both general and specific to your field.

The task is to write a research paper, but the form is flexible. For example, you can choose to produce a text that would serve as a basis for development discussions internal to your department, a conference presentation or a text that could initiate a larger published work.

During the course other relevant themes are discussed such as: learning theories; interaction and feedback; formative and summative assessment; self- and peer assessment; learning as a social process; and IT support for feedback and assessment.

Course certificate

Course participants who demonstrate that they have achieved all of the intended learning outcomes will receive a course certificate.

Length of the course

The course consists of 120 study hours over a 9-week period. There are five obligatory whole-day course meetings. Each of these meetings begins at 9:00 and ends at 16:00.
