International Siberian Shelf Study (ISSS-08)
The object of the International Siberian Shelf Study (ISSS-08) project is to improve our understanding of the enormous flows of carbon, material and water that pass through this system on their way from the Siberian tundra to the interior of the Arctic Ocean, particularly in terms of the effects of a changing climate. Resdearch groups form Russia and the USA are taking part in the expedition, which will be carried out on a Russian ice-breaker over a period of 45 days.
