About us and what we do

At the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism at Stockholm University we are approxinmately 90 staff members. 70 of them are at the former unit Scandinavian Languages, doing research on and teaching in the subjects Swedish, Swedish as a second language and Scandinavian languages for about 3,000 students every year. We offer two Bachelor's programme and one Master's programme, and approximately 60 courses each semester. (These figures will be updated, since we became a new department on January 1 together with a center and an institute.)

We have become a new department: The Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism

On January 1, 2013 we formed a new department consisting of the Department of Scandinavian Languages, the Center for Research on Bilinguaism and the Institute for Interpretation and Translation Studies. Our new name is the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism.
