A more comparable educational system

In 1999, 29 European countries signed the Bologna Declaration. The aim ot his project is to create a system for higher education that is more comparable than what is the case today. The undergraduate and advanced levels in higher education are thus be clearly delimited using the so-called 3+2+3 model. This means that a BA will normally take three years, a master’s another two years and an additional three years will be required for a doctoral degree. In order to increase comparability, more unified grading systems are also needed. Here, ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) constitutes the model. This means a seven-scale grading system using letters.
