The Stockholm Numismatic Institute is totally financed by external funding by the Gunnar Ekström foundation for numismatic research. The main activities are research and guiding students mainly within Viking-Age and Medieval coinage and coin circulation.
Stockholm Numismatic Institute is part of the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies. Education and guidance takes place within the education in archaeology. At the Arkeologi II- , BA- and Master-level it is possible to write a seminar paper with a numismatic subject. On the doctoral level the thesis can focus on numismatics.
