Dr. Kim Heung-Kyu received his bachelor’s and master’s in international relations at Seoul National University, ROK. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Michigan, U.S.

Dr. Kim is a founder of China Policy Institute and serves as Director, and Professor in the department of political science at Ajou University, ROK. He previously served as Professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS), MOFA, ROK. He was a visiting researcher at Georgetown University, U.S. in 2018. Dr. Kim has written more than 300 articles, books, and policy papers regarding Chinese politics and foreign policy, and security issues in Northeast Asia.
Dr. Kim served as Director of Foreign Affairs Sub-committee, Peace & Prosperity Division in the Presidential Commission on Policy-Planning, ROK, a board member of National Security Council (NSC), Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and various other governmental institutes. He has also been a regular participant at ROK-China Strategic Dialogues.
