Korean Poetry Night on March 25 (Wednesday), 16.00-18.00.

Our guest will be Ham Min-bok, one of those Korean poets who employ modern poetic styles while also trying to revive the atmosphere of traditional Korean lifestyle and asthetics.

The public reading will introduce a number of Ham’s poems both in the original as well as Swedish translations. The translations have been recently made by Korean studies students of Stockholm University within a workshop project newly launched by the Literature Translation Institute Korea. The project aimed at training students in literary translation from Korean into Swedish and preparing them for future job possibilities in this field. For this purpose, a new course titled “Korean literary translation” was held in the spring term 2015.

Along with meeting the poet, we will have the opportunity to talk with the Swedish poet Vendela Fredrikson who will read Ham Min-bok’s poems in Swedish.

After the reading, we welcome everybody to a reception with Korean food.

Time: Place: Stockholm University, Kräftriket 4 A, Aulan.

Location: 0.8 km south of T-bana Universitetet; by bus 40, 70 or 670 till ’Albano’
