The Korean Studies Section at Stockholm University cordially invites you to a

Reading of Korean Poetry

with poetess Choi Jeongrye

Choi Jeongnye studied Korean poetry and received her PhD at Korea University. She is teaching Creative Writing as a lecturer at the same university. Choi Jeongnye is also one of the most distinguished poets in contemporary Korea. She is known for writing innovative poems which speak of everyday experiences in a highly-suggestive way. One of her poetry collections has been translated into English and published under the title “Instances” (Anderson/South Carolina: Parlor Press, 2011). Sponsored by the Residency program of the Korean Arts Council, Choi Jeongnye is currently spending three months in Stockholm. During her stay in Stockholm she is preparing a selection of her poems for publishing in Swedish translation. The public reading at Stockholm University will introduce a number of those poems which have already been translated into Swedish. Along with meeting the poet, we will also have the opportunity to talk with the Swedish translator of her poems.
