Forum for the Arctic and Antarctic 2025
November 10–11, 2025 at Stockholm University (event onsite)

The Aim of the Forum for the Arctic and Antarctic is to shape agendas for Arctic and Antarctic research in sweden, through dialogue among academia, state agencies, and stakeholders. The overarching theme is raising the ambition of Swedish Polar Research.
The programme will include highlights of ongoing and emerging Arctic and Antarctic research and panels where researchers, authorities, and civil society actors discuss future needs and avenues for polar research in sweden.
The Forum for the Arctic and Antarctic will take place on November 10–11, 2025, at Stockholm University
– A venue renowned for its leading research environments on processes of change affecting the Arctic and Antarctic, including climate change and geopolitics.
The programme will begin in the morning on Monday November 10 and end in the afternoon on November 11. It will consist of sessions devoted to the following themes:
- The establishment of a swedish centre for Arctic and Antarctic research
- A new generation of polar researchers in sweden – networking event for early career polar researchers
- Updates from the swedish platforms for polar science
- Funding for Arctic and Antarctic research
- Swedish polar research: origins and future directions
- Highlights of polar research at Stockholm University
- The Arctic council chairmanship for 2028–2029 and the Fifth international polar year 2032/2033 – Ambitions and tasks for swedish Arctic and Antarctic research
