This lecture follows out the history of the idea of happiness and how it applied to the elderly. It asks how happiness is identified today and how it is thought to relate to the older peopleof our own day. And it goes back in time to suggest when, how, and why elderly people in the past were (or were not) happy according the definitions that prevailed in their day.
