The Middle Ages: Then, Now, and Going Forward, Call for Applications for Doctoral Students
The Center for Medieval Studies at Stockholm University, in collaboration with the Department of Archaeology, History, Cultural Studies and Religion at the University of Bergen, invites applications from doctoral students researching within the field of Medieval Studies at institutions in the Nordic countries for the upcoming event, The Middle Ages: Then, Now, and Going Forward. The event will take place on the 16th and 17th of November 2023 in Bergen, Norway.
The purpose of the event is to increase awareness of ongoing research in Medieval Studies in the Nordic countries and facilitate discussions among medievalists on where the field is headed. The program will consist of two keynote talks by senior researchers in the field, 10-15 minute presentations by participating doctoral students on their research projects, and will include a guided tour of Medieval Bergen.
Participation in the event will be subsidized, making it accessible to all qualifying applicants. Doctoral students from all fields and disciplines are welcome to apply, provided that their research is connected in some way to Medieval Studies.
To apply, please submit the following materials no later than 30 June 2023 (those accepted to a doctoral program after this date may submit a later application with deadline 15 September 2023):
1. A 100-word abstract of your research project, including its relevance to Medieval Studies.
2. A current CV, including your name, contact information, institutional affiliation, and academic background.
3. A letter of recommendation from your academic advisor or supervisor, including their contact information.
