Study in Europe in the spring of 2025!
Do an exchange within Europe!
University of Exeter, England, is one of our partner universities which you can study at.
Study abroad is not only fun and rewarding in a personal way, it also looks great when you are applying for a job.
Where can I go?
There are a lot of countries and universities you can go to. You can study abroad through the Erasmus program in all countries below except for England. This call for application is regarding all of the exchange agreements which the Chemistry Section's three departments have with partner universities.
Universities' semesters start and end at different times, click on the countries below and then the universities to go to their websites where you should be able to find which semester dates each specific university has. Exchange students must often attend an introduction about 1 week before the start of the semester. The spring semester is often called summer semester in Germany and some other countries.

What is the Erasmus program?
During your Erasmus exchange you study one or two semesters abroad at a university within EU (that is connected to the program, which all above are exept for University of Exeter since the UK is no longer a member of the EU). One of the advantages of Erasmus is that students get an Erasmus grant.
Read more information about Erasmus+ on the central SU website!
Universiteit Gent, Belgium, is one of our partner universities which you can study at.
Degree project abroad
Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, one of many universities that you can do an Erasmus traineeship at.
If you are in your final year of your bachelor's or master's program and plan to do a thesis for at least 30 ECTS starting this spring you can do this abroad! Either as exchange or Erasmus traineeship. You will then have an internal supervisor from SU and an external supervisor over there. You do the practical lab work and write abroad, come back home, continue to write and are then examined here. If you do Erasmus traineeship you do not have to limit yourself to the universities we have an agreement with, it works as long as the university is connected to Erasmus.
You can read more about Erasmus traineeship here!
Do I meet the requirements to apply?
To meet the requirements you should:
- Be registered as a student at Stockholm University, and be admitted to one of the Chemistry Section's programs (bachelor's or master's)
- Have studied for at least a year when you are going to go abroad (for master's students it can be acceptable to only have studied for one semester)
- Will study/do a traineeship for full-time during your time (at least 60 days) abroad
- Be able to use the credits when you get back (you can study almost anything if you have elective courses in your program)
You do not have to have the highest grade in all your courses here at SU to go abroad, but we will check your merits in Ladok to see if you passed your earlier program courses. Students at other departments are welcome to apply, but students at our programs will be prioritized of more than one student apply for the same university. Keep in mind that the exchange agreements are for studies in chemistry/biochemistry and you may not be able to study something else during the exchange.
