"A well-known university in a beautiful city makes Stockholm a tempting destination for students!"

Despina Kapsitidou, a 24-year old chemistry student from Greece, is taking her Master degree in Biochemistry at Stockholm University. Her goal is to continue as a PhD student and work in research about the Alzheimer disease.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself? 

– My name is Despina Kapsitidou, I am 24 years old, and I'm a chemistry student from Greece. I have now been living for six months in Stockholm, Sweden. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing guitar and painting. I decided to come to Sweden because of the good reputation of its universities.  

Why do you like chemistry?  

– Chemistry is everywhere around us, and I have always been curious to understand the chemical concepts in depth. 

Which program did you choose? Why did you choose it?  

– I decided to come to Stockholm University for my Master degree in Biochemistry, and so far, I am satisfied in every possible aspect! My program combines a lot of different educational methods such as lectures, seminars, computer labs and wet labs. Thus, as a student, you have the opportunity to become familiar with a variety of topics and techniques which will help you in your future career.  

What do you think about studying at Stockholm university? 

– The university is located on a beautiful campus, is well equipped and organized, while the master in Biochemistry is as good as I expected it to be.  

What do you like the most about Stockholm and Sweden?  

– Stockholm is a really nice city with a lot of green areas, water, parks and a lot of options to go out and spend creative your day. All in all, the combination of a well-known university, a variety of different programs and a beautiful city make Stockholm a tempting destination for students! 

What are your plans for the future? What would you like to work with? 

– I want to continue my studies at Stockholm University as a PhD student and work in research about Alzheimer disease. 

If someone is considering applying to the program, what would you tell them? 

– It is a really good chance to be in an international environment, in a well-known university and in one of a kind Master degree, which could be a milestone for your future.
