"Lab-on-a-Chip" Workshop

On December 8th, two Year 9 classes from Viktor Rydbergs Skola Jarlaplan participated in a fun "Lab-on-a-Chip" workshop.

Professor Nicole Pamme started with an interactive lecture followed by hands-on activities. The students injection molded 'chocolate' chips, milled chip designs with a pantograph, and experimented with channel structures for creating concentration gradients with juices.
They also explored juice-in-oil droplets on-chip. Using a ping-pong model, students captured and isolated circulating tumor cells in blood samples with magnetic beads.
Additionally, students worked with paper-based sensors, crafting designs with wax crayons and using them to measure phosphate content in Coca Cola.
The workshop provided a practical opportunity for learning in the field of science and was so much fun!
