The doctoral dissertation shall be made available at the university library at least three weeks immediately before the defence, and those three weeks should be part of a semester, in the required number of copies to make a satisfactory scrutiny of the doctoral dissertation possible at the defence.
No less than three weeks before the doctoral defence, the doctoral dissertation shall, through the care of the department concerned, both be sent to each such department at an institute of higher education within the area of which the subject of the dissertation falls and, through the care of the university library, be sent to libraries at such institutes of higher education where a doctoral programme in the subject is offered.
If there are special reasons, the Vice Chancellor may permit that a certain doctoral dissertation is made available or is sent out later than what is stipulated in the first and second paragraph.
The doctoral defence shall take place during the semester at a time and place decided by the Vice Chancellor. If there are special reasons, the Vice Chancellor may permit that a certain doctoral defence takes place at another point in time than during the semester. The time for such a defence is to be announced on the university notice board no less than three weeks before the doctoral defence.
