Baltic Sea Science Congress, Stockholm, 19-23 August 2019

After a week full of interesting presentations, Baltic Sea Science Congress 2019 has come to an end. More than 140 speakers have presented their work, and an additional 160 studies have been presented as posters. This has led to many great discussions and several new collaborations. All in the spirit of the congress theme – making connections for the future.

Thank you to BONUS for supporting the event, and thank you to all participants, speakers and poster presenters for contributing to making Baltic Sea Science Congress 2019 a success! See you all in Aarhus for BSSC 2021.

Renowned keynote speakers

Thomas Bianchi, Simon Trush and Katja Fennel are keynote speakers at the Baltic Sea Science Congress. They are international experts and here to speak about coastal ecosystems, global carbon fluxes and the role of the ocean in the climate system.

Media interest in BSSC2019

There is a strong interest from the media for our congress. A press-inviation and a news article have been published, and we expect some attendance from repesentatives of the press. 

Mock press conference kickstarts the congress

The Baltic Sea Science Congress 2019 will be opened in an innovative way. Supported by the joint Baltic Sea research and development programme BONUS, a panel of distinguished scientists and journalists will kick off the conference through a fast-paced discussion of key topics in the form of a mock press conference. The press conference as well as the rest of the opening will also be broadcasted on the web.

"Thinking Story Like a Journalist" – Panel and Pitch Pit

Join Nancy Baron of COMPASS and guest journalists at an entertaining evening journalist panel and "Pitch Pit”, supported by research and development programme BONUS.

Congress dinner in the Nobel banquet venue

We are very proud to announce that the City of Stockholm invites all congress delegates to an evening at the famous City Hall. A welcome speech from a City representative, a Swedish style dinner buffet, and the story of the City Hall.

The BSSC2019 program is ready: 147 oral presentations

The 12th Baltic Sea Science Congress is approaching and we have received more than 300 abstracts. The Scientific Committee has evaluated them all and we are now proud to present an exciting programme with 147 oral presentations and 166 posters.

Unique workshop for young scientists

Baltic Sea Science Congress and BONUS welcome young scientists to take part in a unique training session with communication trainer Nancy Baron.
