Landscape Ecology - Theory and Design
Within the course in landscape ecology you will study how landscape changes affect ecosystems and species distributions.
We specially emphasise conservation of species diversity in changing environments. You will gain insight into different methods and tools to analyse landscape effects on different organisms. The course will highlighting major theories in landscape ecology and how to design landscape ecological experiments with the aim to understand ecological processes at landscape scales. An additional aim of the course is to understand how political decisions, economy and physical geography have influenced, and is influencing, landscape configuration. To deepen your scientific understanding you will read and critically discuss different scientific papers in seminars and workshops. The course is given in English if non Swedish speaking students attend the course.
The course is part of Master's Programme in Landscape Ecology but can also be read as a separate course.

Instruction consists of lectures, field trip, seminars, exercises and project work.

Plagiarism and regulations for disciplinary matters
As a student you must be conscientious about clearly accounting for the material used in the texts that are submitted for examination. To use another person’s expressions or ideas without stating the source is plagiarism. To translate and/or change some words in someone else’s text and present it as your own is also a form of plagiarism. Plagiarism is considered cheating and if discovered in an exam or paper, the exam or paper will be failed immediately and disciplinary measures may be taken.
Any student who is caught cheating or disrupting academic activities may be suspended from lectures and exams for a period of up to six months. The Vice Chancellor or the Disciplinary Council decide whether the student is to be subject to any disciplinary measures.

Schedule
