A Monday lecture with Monika Gänssbauer, professor of Chinese language and culture at Stockholm University.
This lecture will present a collaborative translation project that has involved a collection of poetry by contemporary Hong Kong writer Wu Yin Ching and that has been published recently in book form. Applying the method of close reading, a number of poems from the collection will be analysed from different perspectives: socio-political, philological and ontological. The lecture will also take up the issue of AI and literary translation.
Monika Gänssbauer is professor of Chinese language and culture at the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, Stockholm University.
She has also been working as a literary translator for many years and has been involving colleagues as well a students in collaborative translation-cum-publication projects (Chinese-German and Chinese-English).
