Due to the present situation with the pandemic and the decision by the president of SU on May 31, 2021, the Head and Deputy Head of Department have made the following revised decision regarding the teaching during autumn semester 2021 after consultations with the Faculty of Humanities and the Department's management group:

• All teaching and examination at the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies will continue to be web-based throughout autumn semester 2021 (August 30, 2021 - January 16, 2021).
• For PhD dissertations the Department will be open for allowing on-site defences, as well for PhD students’ final seminars, to be carried through in accordance with the rules and regulations of Stockholm University and recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden and other government directives.
• The department will work on offering students the opportunity to conduct joint student-centered studies, including SI-PASS activities, within the department's premises following the rules and regulations of Stockholm University and recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden and other government directives. Information about how such activities are to be conducted will be communicated in the beginning of the semester.
• Individual supervision can take place at the Department after agreement between supervisor and supervisee. Visits to the Asian Library will be possible within the limits of the rules and regulations of Stockholm University and recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden and other government directives.
• Students with disabilities or in need of special pedagogical support should primarily contact the Student department at Stockholm University. The department's contact person for students with disabilities in all subjects is Martin Säfström. 
• The recommendations and regulations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden to minimize the spread of infection must be followed within the department's premises.
• Any decision made by the university management, the faculty or by an authority may lead to the present decision having to be reconsidered.
• The Department management is working on formulating a plan for returning to teaching on campus for spring 2022.
• The student representatives have been informed and given the opportunity to submit comments.
