Can monuments contribute to democratic values? In many places in the world, monuments are now critically examined, where they were supposed to stand for a glorious history, that history has now caught up with them.

But what happens after a monument collapses when society no longer want to stand for for example racist values? And can monuments transmit democratic values instead?

Tanja Schult is a visiting researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In this lecture she presents her latest research. The lecture will be in german.
