Special issue on aDNA in the Journal of Social Archaeology
A special issue on aDNA was recently published in the Journal of Social Archaeology, vol 21:2, 2021, edited by researchers at the Department of Culture and Aestethics and project members of the research project "Code, Narrative, History: Making sense of ancient DNA in contemporary culture”.
The newly published special issue on aDNA the Journal of Social Archaeology, was edited by researchers n the research project Code, Narrative, History: Anna Källén and Andreas Nyblom from the Department of Culture and Aesthetics, Daniel Strand from the Centre for Multicultural Studies on Racism at Uppsala University, and Charlotte Mulcare, PhD in Population Genetics.
The issue is dedicated to critical studies of archaeogenomics. The research field, also referred to as archaeogenetics or paleogenomics, that has arisen from the possibility to perform genome-wide analyses of ancient DNA (aDNA). This issue of the Journal of Social Archaeology presents critical studies of archaeogenomics, with critical discussions about the ethical, political, and epistemological consequences of archaeogenomics.
