Book release: Crises and Challenges for the European Union

Professor Mark Rhinard has published a book on how the European Union political system is being affected by a growing number of crises.

The book, co-edited with Neill Nugent and William Paterson, contains chapters from some of the top scholars on EU politics. This edition argues that crises and challenges are no longer unique events facing the EU, but rather, they are better understood as sustained conditions that have changed the relationships between member states and the prospects for integration.

Several research questions are pursued in each chapter, including: what are the long-term effects of crises on the EU? How does one crisis affect the next? Are current EU theories capable of explaining today's complex cooperation problems? Professor Rhinard edited the volume and has written or co-written four chapters within it.
