Research subjects

At our department we conduct research in two subjects: Economic History and International Relations.

These subjects are distinctly separate but closely interacting and with strong synergistic effects in research and education. The research environment at the department is inclusive and intellectually stimulating with continuous open seminars for both Economic History and International Relations.

Within economic history, production, distribution and consumption are studied, as well as their social and institutional conditions in the past.

International Relations

Within the subject area of International Relations we study how the international system works politically, economically and culturally, its historical development and changing power relations over time.

This field studies international political, economical and power relations from a historical perspective.

International Institutions

Research at this department on international institutions involves the formal and informal rules that prescribe the way actors should cooperate and interact in the international system.

International Political Economy

International political economy at our department examines the problems arising from the interaction of international politics, international economics, different social systems, and different societal groups that span the international system.

International Security

The study of international security focuses on historical, social and political dynamics around issues related to war, conflict and the pursuit of peace and stability.
