Andreas Madestam gave this year’s inaugural lecture at the professorial installation

Anna Seim, Roine Vestman, and Andreas Madestam, all newly appointed professors at the Department of Economics, participated in Stockholm University’s installation and conferment ceremony at the end of September.

In addition to the new professors, newly graduated doctors, honorary doctors, jubilee doctors, and teachers were also present. In total, over a thousand guests gathered in Stockholm City Hall on 27 September.

Andreas Madestam: ”Measuring the wealth of nation”

Andreas Madestam delivered this year’s inaugural lecture on ”Measuring the wealth of nations: development viewed from above”, where he explained how historical aerial photographs, combined with machine learning, can be used to analyze long-term changes in economic development, institutions, and climate impact.
