The assassination attempt on the dictator Adolf Hitler and the subsequent attempted coup of 20 July 1944 are among the key events in 20th century German history. Much is already known about the people involved and their motives thanks to biographical research. However, structural questions have rarely been at the centre of historical research interest. What new insights can be gained by applying the method of historical network analysis? The speaker will present the results of her research, provide insights into her methodological approach and show various ways of visualising the complex secret network of 20 July 1944.
