Jaime Montes Bentura is visiting Phd Student from the program in Sustainability and Urban Regeneration at the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM). He is also architect and teaches at the KTH in Stockholm in the master programme in Sustainable Urban Planning and Design.

For his thesis Jaime studies the development of urban form and urban design in Sweden from the functionalist to the sustainable city. The research aims to explore key transformations in the urban space; how and to what extent can be defined urbanity in the suburban areas built during the second half of the 20th century; ultimately how architecture can make use of history to inform the design of the sustainable city, by putting the city in a wider historical context as an evolutionary process, and mapping geographically and historicaly the driving forces and influences that have shaped Swedish urbanism.

During his stay in Stockholm Jaime will have his desk at KTH but you can reach him by e-mail: jmontes@kth.se.
