Historical research at Stockholm University enjoys a strong position nationally as well as internationally. The department, which welcomes over 150 new students each semester, provides the largest bachelor level education of history in the country. The department organizes the Doctoral School for PhD Students of History in collaboration with Uppsala University.

A few days ago the book "Scandinavia in the Middle Ages 900–1550. Between Two Oceans" by Kirsi Salonen and Kurt Villads Jensen was published by Routledge. Kurt Villads Jensen is professor of Medieval history at the department of history and the director of the centre for Medieval studies. To mark the publication, he told us about the newly published book.
Post doctoral fellow Gregory Leighton is currently visiting Stockholm and the Department of History while researching the crusades and the ideas of holy war.
