Diversity Project, or Mångfaldsprojektet

Since 2006, the Diversity Project has been run under the direction of the Department of Law. The main purpose of the project is to show that studying law is not solely reserved to people from certain areas or social groups.

The Diversity Project was started at Stockholm University in the autumn of 2002 with project funding from the so-called Recruitment Delegation (Rekryteringsdelegationen) at the Department of Education. The overall goal of the Diversity Project was that the composition of students in the Swedish law programme should reflect the diversity of Swedish society. The Diversity Project aims to show that law studies are not restricted to for people from specific backgrounds.

What the Diversity Project does

The Diversity Project actively works for a smooth transition between high school and university studies and aims to provide realistic information about what law studies at Stockholm University entail and what the job opportunities are after completing the law programme.

As part of the project, a series of lectures are for instance held during the first semester of the law programme to help new students with the writing of essays and court case summaries, as well as to give them tips and advice before examinations. The Diversity Project also represents the law programme at Stockholm University at open house events and fairs, and helps providing upper secondary schools with general information about studies at university level and information about the law program in particular.

The Diversity Project has the opportunity to meet with people who are interested in studying law. During your visit, you would be able to meet and accompany a law student to see what it is like to study law at Stockholm University. High school students and people who have recently graduated from high schools and who have no other academic experience are given priority. For more information regarding the dates for the Introductory Course in Law, please see the course’s specific web page.
